Let’s go back to our roots as we celebrate the beauty of American and English Folk Music. Join us for a celebration of songs that help us celebrate the dreams and the joy of the American people from artists like Joni Mitchell to John Denver. We also will highlight  some classic band songs that celebrate folk traditions such as English Dances, Set 2 and Scottish Dances by Arnold, excerpts from Lincolnshire Posey by Grainger, and a beautiful setting of “Peace like a River” by Sheldon. We will also feature a piece by RCB’s own James Marshall titled “Scottish Highlands.”

Tuba Or Not Tuba

FREE(Ticket required)

“Tuba, or not tuba, that tisnt’ a question:
We know ‘tis nobler in the band to endure
The rows of back of band hall playing
Notes low as dark of ocean depths, deepest night
But with each bass line we shine”

…or at least that’s what we think Shakespeare should have written!

The RCB is very proud to celebrate the noble tuba in this concert as we feature Tuba soloist, Jason Wallace! With his time in the spotlight, Jason will amaze and dazzle everyone with his brilliant playing, wonderful personality, and possible showstopping antics (no spoilers). Also coming onto the stage will be more music celebrating the lower registers like “Old Man River”, famous Tuba march “Them Basses” and “Washington Grays”.

We are excited to bring the tuba onto center stage as we make the Eisemann Center be “all about that bass.” The RCB, along with Jason, will answer the tuba or not tuba question once and for all, and it’s absolutely tuba!!
